Sherlock is designed to be installed in the handlebar.
It may work somewhere else, but functioning is not guaranteed.
If installed in the seatpost, for example, it may "fall" inside and metal walls of the tube may impede GPS, GPRS and Bluetooth communications. Moreover, it would be uncomfortable to recharge.

I think the situation is similar to the seat post: the device head must face outwards, to have good GPS/Bluetooth signal and ease recharging.
If you manage to do so, while keeping the device hidden, it's a viable solution. However I suggest you to do some tests.
